The “on-cost”The purchase price of oil depends upon three main variables: spot price, duty and the amount added by the supplier to meet their costs and profits. We monitor the first two of these variables through the Platts and Argus indices, two of the world’s leading price reporting agencies. The last element, known as the “on-cost”, is open to negotiation but is only revealed to the buyer through knowledge of the first two.
